Couple Therapy Haslemere
Welcome and thank you for reading my profile. My name is Sophie and I’m a fully qualified ‘Humanistic’ therapist based at Relationship Counselling Surrey’s Haslemere practice. I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I’m a registered member of the BACP (British Association Counsellors Psychotherapists)
The humanistic approach is about free will, self-discovery and achieving your full potential as a human being, rather than concentrating on individual problems or symptoms. Because I believe that empowering people to trust their instincts and believe in themselves is the foundation to understanding their mental health.
I provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences – without judgement. Whether you choose to start therapy as part of a couple, or whether you are seeking relationship help just for yourself.
I do understand that it can take great courage to reach out for help with your relationship. However, most of us experience relationship difficulties at some point because life can be challenging at times, so I will ensure I make our sessions as comfortable as possible for you. Therefore, I provide a safe, confidential environment where we can work through your relationship difficulties together.
My approach to couple therapy is entirely dependent on each individual situation and the goal of the therapy (that is if you know of course) If you are unsure at this point and are seeking clarity, that’s okay, I will endeavour to help you find that.
Ethical Standards – Being a member of BACP means I subscribe to their code of ethics. This includes undertaking continuous professional development and clinical supervision. I also hold professional indemnity insurance.
Along with being an experienced relationship therapist, I also have experience with issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, addiction, trauma, emotional and physical abuse.
Qualifications
- Levle 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

Background/experience
Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, I worked with a local counselling community charity.
I have seen hundreds of couples and individuals learn how to navigate the challenges that arise during their life’s, as individuals, as partners and as parents.
How I can help you
- I will help you quickly feel at ease, listened to and most importantly understood. During the relationship counselling process, we will explore the problems at hand and look at a way to move you forward more positively, if that is what you want.
- It’s important that you both feel valued and respected whilst working through the relationship challenges you are experiencing. Therefore, I will encourage you to determine your desired outcome. Then, through the building of bridges, help you develop positive communication paths. This process will not only improve self- esteem, it will also allow respective voices to be heard.
- My easy-going approach will enable you to be heard and empowered in order to reach a more positive resolution going forward. I will help you gain a better understanding of each other’s perspectives.
- Our sessions will be conducted done via calm, non-accusatory, therapeutic process.
- You will both have a voice and be able to work through your relationship issues together for a more positive, sustainable outcome.
