    About Michelle

Hello, my name is Michelle and I am a qualified relationship therapist. I appreciate that it can take great courage to reach out for help with your relationship, and I strive to create a warm, safe environment where you can both feel comfortable enough to open up. I am not there to take sides or pass judgement; instead, I am here to listen to your combined experiences and help you improve the communication between you.

Although I qualified as a psychodynamic therapist, I work in an eclectic and creative way when providing couple counselling. This means I use a variety of different therapeutic approaches, including person-centred and CBT-informed techniques, to suit your unique situation and individual needs. My goal is to help you find a more positive way forward that feels authentic to your partnership.

At the beginning of our first session, I will ask you what you hope to achieve. Whether you are hoping to make your relationship work better than it currently is, or you would like help to separate more amicably, we will work together to find clarity. It is perfectly okay if you feel unsure or if you and your partner have different answers at the start of our journey.

As an accredited member of the MBACP and UKRCP, I adhere to strict ethical guidelines and continuous professional development. This ensures that the service I provide to you is grounded in the highest professional standards, allowing you to focus on your journey towards a more connected, respectful, and fulfilling relationship.

    Background & Experience

I have been in private practice since 2004, and my professional journey has allowed me to work with a wide range of people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. This broad exposure has given me a deep understanding of many different types of relationship dynamics. Alongside my work with couples, I also specialise in trauma, neurodiversity, adoption, and family work.

My background includes significant experience within the court system regarding divorce matters, as well as working as an adoption counsellor with Barnardo’s. I am also an accredited Play Therapist and a qualified supervisor for other therapists. These varied roles have equipped me with the skills to handle complex family issues and sensitive interpersonal challenges with compassion and expertise.

Prior to my career in counselling, I spent many years in social work and youth work. I served as a residential social worker for six years and a Church of England Youth Worker for 18 years. These experiences, combined with my time as a foster parent, have shaped my down-to-earth approach and my ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life.

    How I Can Help

I will walk the relationship therapy journey with you both to help you develop better ways of connecting in your relationship.

I will provide a safe, confidential space where you will both feel heard and respected during your sessions.

We will explore the dynamics between you, while allowing you the time and space to individually express yourselves and feel validated.

I will encourage you to be honest with yourselves and each other in order to help move the relationship forward.

I will facilitate an environment where you can both properly listen, ensuring you are both patient and tolerant of each other’s thoughts and feelings.
