Hello, I’m Deborah Leaver and I’m a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and extensive experience workign with couples and individuals.
Whether you’re struggling with conflict or seeking positive change in your relationship, I’m here to help. My approach will be tailored to meet your specific needs. I work with people from all walks of life, including diverse social, cultural, religious, LGBTQIA+, and neurodiverse backgrounds.
I use an ‘Integrative Approach’ to therapy which allows me to draw on a wide range of techniques, so I can provide the right support for your unique situation. If you and your partner are dealing with unresolved discord, this can unintentionallyy cause emotional strain and stress within intimate relationships and family dynamics.
During my couples work I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where both you and your partner can express yourselves and feel heard. Whilst it might feel diffficult discussing your relationship difficulties with a stranger in the room, my goal is to ensre you both feel comfortable enough to explore the issues you have brought to therapy.
We’ll look at your feelings and behaviours as a couple, and if relevant, we’ll also explore how past experiences—such as your upbringing or communication styles—may be affecting your relationship today
During both couples or one-to-one sessions, we will explore your feelings and patterns of behaviour. Where it’s relevant, we will also consider how your childhood, life experiences and communication styles might have contributed to your current relationship difficulitues .
Ethical Standards
As a registered member of BACP I adhere to their ethical guidelines, ongoing supervision and CPD (continual professional development) to ensure the service I provide the best possible service to my clients.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a Management Consultant, mainly in the legal sector. I’ve also supported clients through charities, dealing with bereavement, domestic violence, and substance misuse. I continue to work for one of these charities because I believe therapy should be available to everyone who needs it.
In addition to my charity work, I run a thriving private practice, where I see both individuals and couples—either in person or online. I regularly attend workshops and training to ensure I provide the most effective and up-to-date therapy for you.
I also hold an Enhanced DBS certificate and Professional Indemnity Insurance, so you can feel confident and safe working with me.
